The magician borrows a ring and places it in a handkerchief or ring box. He gives the spectator a brass bell and asks them to ring the bell over the handkerchief or ring box and then open it. He opens it and the ring is gone. The magician looks at the bell and asks the spectator to turn it over and inside the bell where the clapper once was is the spectators' borrowed ring. The magician takes back the bell, removes the ring and gives it back to the spectator.
